Welcome to the MR Love Palace Wiki !
What is this place?
This is where I post my game design thoughts. I am also always interested in collaboration with other like-minded folks, so in the future I imagine this is where that sort of interaction will take place.
Game design pages
Duello
Currently I am toying with a two-player game idea based on the likes of Othello, Magic the Gathering, Chess, and Scrabble, with a dash of Go. Or something along those lines. Without further ado, I present a work-in-progress - Duello.
Magic Stones
Magic Stones is Duello part deux.
Bethellowed
Bethellowed is an original casual game that I have been playing around with for a while now. It is still very much a work-in-progress, but I do have a playable version of it using programmer art available now.
Explorers
Explorers is a game I'd really like to see someone make, but likely no one will. If someone were to fund Lumpy today, this would be the first game we would make. It is inspired by Seven Cities of Gold, and what I've written up to-date is more like a simple update to that game. The plan is to branch out from the basics, but not so far that you wouldn't like the play if you liked the original. With the release of an updated Pirates! game and its subsequent success, it sure seems like as if a new 7CoG or M.U.L.E (another classic) would be money in the bank.
Province
Province was one of many ideas based on some basic concepts from Magic the Gathering.
Supersecretminiproject
SSMP is a secret. If I told you about it I'd have to kill you. And I'm a ninja, so I'm comfortable with killing you. Mostly.
Quickie game ideas
- Puzzle Quest + auction house + social networking + Diablo/Wow-style lewt.
- Double-handed solitaire. Play solitaire, but players share the Aces and are competing to be the first player to play through their 13 library cards.
- Spin your own planet or solar system. Let the player choose amongst a variety of starting conditions (percentage oxygen, heavy metals, etc) and then let the game simulate development over time. Especially interesting if tie in a social networking site where you can name your planet/system and show the current state visually and statistically.
- Orbz Golf.
- Tempest + Cyclone + Lumines + Art. The audio and video immersion of Lumines, add in the basic mechanic of Cyclone (dropping pieces to match colors for popping), add movement about the perimeter of the playing well similar to Tempest. The well behaves differently than bubble poppers, however. Each column in the well moves at its own speed, and the well is designed by an artist such that pieces in the well are constantly changing shape to fit into the columns. A very organic looking playing field when all tied together. Hard to describe, but visually a treat if done right. Could also be fun to play...maybe.
- Ebay for gamers. Ebay is one big game, you just need a game that allows you to collect and/or create things that you then put up on an auction house for other players to use in-game.
- Casual game casino.
- Bombs Away. Basically a simple 3D arcade game where you ride on a flying mount over a 3D landscape dropping bombs on baddies on the ground. No air-to-air combat. Inspired by some of the bombing run quests in World of Warcraft.
- Moto Blast. A jetbike game in 3D environments. Simple minigames inspired by play in Jak and Daxter.
- 2d shooter - 1942 or xevious
- boulderdash game
- jumpman game
- montezuma's revenge
- tanks game
- plane game
- painting popper - mixing colors to get new colors
- simgarden
- simracereligion
- genetic algorithm game of some sort - life?
- pikmin - but more interesting
- lemonade tycoon - pet store
- tempest
- physics-based games
- xcom
- mxc, ninja warriors - several race-type games - survive the gauntlet
- humorous building block game using physics - can take picture of resulting collapses - have to place whatever you're given and it doesn't all fit together nicely
- worms
- water-balloon fight with physics
- snow-ball fight with forts
- Shape matching. Place pieces on top of pieces, creating new shapes.
- Use color mixing
- Pipe Dreams + colored liquids. Color mixing could play a part here.
- Fractal-based avatars + social networking.
- Magnetic field movement. Birds might be able to see earth's magnetic fields. What if you navigated in a 2D or 3D world by hovering over terrain and following visible magnetic fields.
- Games that allow reality to become part of the environment. Weather is a simple example, but you could just as easily embed news events, for instance.
- Ghost hunter - ghost hunters are searching old cathedrals, ruins, and jails for the holy grail of ghost hunting - a full-body apparition. You will be joining them in their search...as the ghost! You will be given goals to accomplish while avoiding giving the players their holy grail - a plain look at you on camera. Your goals will be to mess with players possibly while avoiding visual detection, or moving from one spot to another in the haunted spanse.
- Archon - except when you join in battle against your opponent(s), you are thrown into a 3d arena to quickly fight out the challenges. The arenas will be very small, allowing a quick resolution to the challenge. Each unit type will have distinct abilities, but even the lowliest pawn can challenge the queen if the player has mad FPS skills.
Enjoy!
